j5Create, also known as MCT (Magic Control Technology) USB graphics software is not compatible with DisplayLink and must be uninstalled before installing DisplayLink software. It is not possible to install multiple USB graphics drivers on a PC due to limitations in the Windows graphics architecture. Use the steps below to uninstall j5Create MCT USB graphics software.
Open Windows Control Panel and click 'Uninstall a program' under Programs.
Uninstall any software with the following names:

It is possible in some cases that the MCT software leaves its services installed. To remove these:
Click Start, and search for 'cmd'.
Right-click 'Command prompt', and then click 'Run as administrator':
If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
Type sc delete GManager and press Return
Type sc delete MctUsbAudio and press Return
Type sc delete mctkmd and press Return
Type sc delete mctkmdldr and press Return

J5 Usb To Vga Adapter
I understand that since upgrading to macOS Catalina you're having trouble with your external display doesn't seem to be detected if you restart the Mac while in clamshell mode. I also see that you've verified that your preferences are correct, but the only way to have your display work properly is to disconnect and reconnect it. I can see why you'd reach out about this behavior; I'd like to help. Based on the information you've provided I'd recommend using the resources below to reset the SMC and NVRAM on your Mac:
Because resetting NVRAM will reset your display preferences, be sure to reconfigure these to your preference before testing again with the external display.
